Terrence Kane is a rising senior at American University where he studies journalism and political science. Kane came to American after graduating from The Pennington School in 2016. While a student at The Pennington School, Kane participated in numerous stage performances, played on several sports teams, and served as a representative of the student government. He was elected to or selected for numerous leadership positions, including president of the Gay-Straight Alliance and Head Campus Guide in the admissions department. Kane said he took increased academic interest in the subjects that most attracted him. He took advanced placement courses in Language Arts, Literature, Government, and European history. An avid fan of poetry, Kane had two of his poems published in the school’s literary magazine. Outside the classroom, Kane participated in local politics and the global community. He worked on the congressional campaign for State Representative Steve Santarsiero during the 2016 election cycle. He also spent some time overseas, including a month in the United Kingdom and several weeks in El Salvador. These trips were typically a combination of volunteerism and education. He said he looks forward to utilizing the numerous opportunities that the excellent faculty and location of American University affords him.
